“Dare to do….”

“Dare to act….”

Coaching and mentoring are two terms that in practice are often used to mean the same thing. At Cognisi we use coaching and Mentoring tools to enhance an individual’s skills, knowledge or work performance.
We agree with the CIPD explanation: “Mentoring involves the use of the same models and skills of questioning, listening, clarifying and reframing associated with coaching. Traditionally, however, mentoring in the workplace has tended to describe a relationship in which a more experienced colleague uses his or her greater knowledge and understanding of the work or workplace to support the development of a more junior or inexperienced member of staff.
One key distinction is that mentoring relationships tend to be longer term than coaching arrangements. In a succession planning scenario, for example, a regional finance director might be mentored by a group level counterpart over a lengthy period to develop a sound understanding of dealing with the boardroom, presenting to analysts and challenging departmental budgets, all in a supportive environment.”
Golf has often been seen as a pastime that enables people to mix business and pleasure. As a keen golfer I had the idea to enable my clients to experience executive coaching during a relaxed round of golf at one of the most prestigious courses in Derbyshire – Kedleston Park Golf Club.
Playing a round of golf in this beautiful setting will aid thinking, help inspire you to be more focused and appreciative of what business means to you at the personal level. The pleasure aspect will be subject to the weather and how well you play, the business element will be real (it’s not a “jolly”) and will focus on making a real bottom-line difference to your business or improving your personal management performance – GUARANTEED!
